The past few months were just supposed to be a short break. One week off stretched into two..
I discovered I was pregnant.
We took a trip to Europe, just Chris and I, and it was lovely- even with all that morning sickness.
A fire tore through our mountains and forced our family's evacuation.
I stood in my cousin's wedding and photographed her special day.
Second trimester arrived quietly as my belly grew round and plump.
We picked blackberries, spent long hours at the park and started up school again.
Autumn arrived.
My little girl turned five.
FIVE.
Suddenly I realized how time was passing. All those precious unrecorded moments. It slips by so quickly.
It is time for me to start blogging again...
It feels like just yesterday when we welcomed her into this world. I held her in my arms and was blown away with her tiny fingers, long dark lashes and sweet smile.
Her hair tried to keep up with her body but she kept cutting it whenever I turned my back. First the bangs, then the backm sometimes a clump out of the top or sides. She would run around naked and hide from me under blankets.
Now she can write her own name and read picture books. She loves pink and talks about being a mommy and a firefighter when she is grown. She cares for her little sister and is always generous to her precocious older brothers.
Yesterday she woke up to presents hidden throughout her room. She tore each one open and shrieked with happiness. She shared her gifts with every sibling, somehow understanding that things are more meaningful when they are enjoyed with generosity. She amazes me, this girl. I hope this year is good for her. Five seems like such a magical number, with so many changes and growth ahead, I know she will not waste a day.
Happy Birthday Pepper!
sooo excited about our babies!! :D

Your sister looks a lot like you! Your little girl is so cute! My oldest turned 5 this year, and I can hardly believe he is so big either. The time just flew by!
